Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) is a concentrically stranded conveyor with one or more layers of hard drawn 1350-H19 aluminum wire on galvanized steel wire center. The center can be single wire or stranded depending upon the size. ACSR is generally comprised of a galvanized steel center of 1 wire, T wires or 19 wires encompassed by concentric layers of aluminum wire.

The blended development of ACSR makes it an exceptionally adaptable medium from a configuration perspective, by shifting the relative extents of aluminum and steel - the perfect conductor for a specific application can be created. 

The higher quality ACSR Conductor is utilized for small water crossings like streams and rivers, overhead ground wires, and applications involving very long spans. Against any given resistance of conductor, ACSR might be produced for having a wide range of tensile strength as per the required use. The essential point of preference of these conductors is high strength so they are utilized for more spans with less structural ground support.

Construction of ACSR Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced:
The versatility of single steel wire is three time more noteworthy than an aluminum single wire.
This is characterized by the organization of ACSR transmitter (number of steel wires, number of aluminum wires).
To ensure its longevity a flimsy zinc covering on the wire is created. This covering is critical to prevent galvanic erosion.

Technical Standards:
B-230 aluminum 1350-H19, extra hard, round wire for electrical purposes. The aluminum wire shall be made from drawing stock and shall be free of brittleness as evidenced by its ability to be coiled or looped around its own diameter with or without a mandrel.
B-232 concentric-lay-stranded aluminum conductors, coated-steel reinforced (ACSR), made from round aluminum 1350-H19 wires and round, coated steel core wire for use as overhead electrical conductors.
B-498 round, zinc-coated (galvanized), steel core wire with three classes of zinc coating used for mechanical reinforcement in the manufacture of aluminum conductors, steel-reinforced (ACSR).

B-500 zinc-coated (galvanized), zinc-aluminum-mischmetal alloy-coated, and aluminum-coated (aluminized) stranded steel wire core inserted for use in aluminum conductors, steel reinforced (ACSR).
